Thomas understands that facing a criminal charge can be one of the most serious, stressful, and life-altering events you will ever face. If you are accused of committing a crime, your choice of attorney may significantly affect the rest of your life. Thomas is committed to fighting relentlessly on your behalf to achieve the best possible outcome. He has helped defend people charged with everything from traffic offenses, to white-collar crimes, to large-scale drug conspiracies. Additionally, he has helped clients avoid arrest altogether by convincing authorities not to pursue charges.

During law school, he interned at the Federal Defender Program for the Northern District of Illinois and at Cabrini Green Legal Aid (CGLA). At the Federal Defender Program, he received the Judge William J. Campbell Intern-At-Law Award for his commitment, contribution, and competence in the area of criminal law. At CGLA, he was named the Justice Robert E. Gordon Scholar for his significant advocacy on behalf of low-income clients. Prior to law school, Thomas graduated summa cum laude from Northern Illinois University, B.A., where he received a Centennial Scholarship and was a member of the national honor society Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated with High Honors from Rock Valley College, A.A., where he received a Writing Recognition Award for excellence in writing.

Thomas is a proud member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Seventh Circuit Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Illinois Association for Criminal Justice, the Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. HELPFUL TIPS FROM ME TO YOU

How to Properly Exercise Your Constitutional Rights
  • What You Should Do
    • Be respectful.
    • Calmly record the interaction.
    • Ask if you are free to leave. If you do not ask, the officer may think - and the judge may agree - that the interaction is consensual.
    • If you are free to leave, go! If you are not free to leave, do not answer and questions before speaking with your attorney.
  • What You Should Not Do
    • Do not physically resist arrest.
    • Do not become aggressive or confrontational.
    • Do not consent to a search. The Constitution does not apply if you consent.
    • Do not answer questions without first speaking with your attorney. Police are allowed to hold you for 48 hours and they may lie to you the entire time.
